How to Make Salt and Pepper Squid at Home

  • vegetable oil, for shallow frying
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp freshly cracked peppercorn medley

  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • To serve: salad leaves
  • Serve with lemon wedges

Steps to Make Salt Pepper Squid at home

Oven should be preheated to 160°C/140°C fan-forced.

Each squid hood should be split lengthwise. Score the interior in a crisscross pattern using a sharp knife. Each component should be split lengthwise. Cut each strip in half crosswise to get 4 pieces. With a paper towel, dry.

In a wok or saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat.

In a small bowl, mix the flour, pepper, salt, and chili. Shake off excess flour mixture after lightly tossing squid in it. Cook for two minutes while rotating, or until light golden. Place on a baking sheet. While cooking the remaining squid, place in oven to maintain warmth. Serve with lemon wedges and salad leaves.
